Studio

Purple Squares is located in the basement of St John's Centre, Shirley, Southampton. Click here for map. The post code of the studio is SO15 5FB.

The studio itself contains a large live room and a smaller control room. The facility comprises of two seperate recording platforms:

- 10-track PC-based solution with Focusrite pre-amps, RME A/D conversion, running into SONAR 4 Producer.

- 24-track HD-based solution with Mackie 24:8 analogue desk and an Alesis HD24.

This flexibility means we can cater for all kinds of projects, from solo singer-songwriter through to full symphony orchestra - believe us, we've done it all!

For your typical rock band session, normally drums get tracked first straight into SONAR, and then guitars, bass, keys, vocals etc are dubbed one at a time. Live recording is just as feasible as well, but most bands prefer to track in stages.
